So
why is Hodor called Hodor?
In the middle of the sixth season of Game of Thrones,
fans and avid viewers will finally be given the explanation why Hodor is named
Hodor and only says Hodor no matter what you say to him.
This season, Bran’s ability has been extensively shown,
maybe to compensate with the lack of scenes on their part of the storyline in
the previous season. Bran had been training under the old man bound in the
tree, who calls himself as the Three-Eyed Raven. Together they can take a little
trip down time, but that without anyone noticing them, nor having any physical
contact with people from that time. The scenes involving Bran in this season
always have to do with improving his ability, thus it seems they’re doing it
frequently.
But this time was different. Bran discovered that it
was the “Children of the Forest” who supposedly made the white walkers, to protect
themselves from humans. And on a succeeding trip down time, the King of the
White Walkers held Bran’s wrist, leaving a frozen mark. So what does it mean?
It means that the white walkers are coming for them.
Again, the Three-Eyed Raven along with Bran went to
a trip down time, this time the setting was the old Winterfell with his grand dad
talking to his dad, and Willis, that is the younger Hodor, at the back scene.
While they were on the trip, the walkers managed to get inside the cave where
they were staying. Meera, Bran’s supposed care taker, carried Bran on the sledge
calling him, trying to wake him up so that he can warg (mind-control) Hodor and
their lives at least be spared. Luckily while still in the trip down time, Bran
heard her voice and managed to warg into Hodor even in his present condition. Running
through the back door, Meera was pulling the sledge, telling Hodor to hold the
door. Screaming and shouting at it.
But what’s amazing is Willis, the younger Hodor saw
Bran (which was supposed to be impossible). Willis then collapsed to the ground,
saying “Hold the door, hold the door” as if repeating what Meera is saying on
the present time. This was the second time there was an actual interaction with
Bran in a time trip (first was with the walker).
Hold
the door.
Hold
the door.
Hold
the door.
Hold
door.
Hold
door.
Hold
door.
Hodor.
This was the saddest episode this season. Will Hodor
be in the next episode? I guess no. I guess he would hold the door with his
life. I guess there will be Hodor no more.
